LARGE STOCK HERDING TRIAL

Open to all ASCA herding breeds.

A Course on Saturday, May 19th , B Course on
Sunday, May 20th.
Day of trial entries taken from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. both days (if space
available). Handler’s meeting - 8:30a.m; first run - 9:00a.m. both days.
Bitches in season run last.
Stock: cows and sheep. The cows are dog broke (but not course trained) replacement, Holstein heifers 8 months to1year in age. They are regularly worked by a Border Collie. The sheep are provided by a Border Collie trialer who uses them for training.
Entries: pre entry fee for sheep $30, for cows $35.
Day of trial entry fee sheep $35, cows $40.
The owner of the sheep will only allow each group to run 2 times. As
a result more sheep are needed which means a higher than normal sheep entry
fee. Entries are limited (16 sheep, 20 cows) so get your entries in early.
Entries open April 1. None accepted with a post mark before that date.

Ribbons: First through Forth place. Combined High Score (sheep and cattle scores added together) for each day, for each class - Started, Open and Advanced. High in Trial Sheep, High in Trial Cattle (scores from both days added together) - one award for Aussies, one award for other breeds.
Accommodations: no motels in the immediate area take dogs (you can try the Super Eight south of Hartford but it’s a hike to the Fair Grounds). RVs welcome at the Fair Grounds - no hook-ups. Directions
From north - take 91 south to 9 south to first light in Middletown.
At light take right and follow signs to Rt. 66 Portland. This will take
you onto the Arigoni bridge across the Ct. River. When you cross the river
stay right on Rt. 66 east. Go 5 miles to light at Rt 151. Take right onto
Rt. 151 and go 3.3 miles to Haddam Neck Rd.. Take rightg onto Haddam Neck
Rd. Stay on paved road for about 1 mile to Quarry Hill Rd., just past the
fire house. Take left onto Quarry Hill Rd. The first left off of Quarry
Hill Road leads into the Fair Grounds.
From South - take 91 north to the Middletown exit (Rt 66 east).
Follow Rt 66 east (it becomes Washington Street) to down town Middletown.
At Main Street take left and follow onto Bridge. From there follow directions
above.
From West - Take 691, which becomes Rt 66 to Middletown. From
there follow directions above.
From East - Take Rt. 66 west past East Hampton to Rt. 151. Take
left onto Rt. 151 and follow directions above.
